Art Genre: Colored Pencil and Acrylic Painting

I’m Alex Kelly, a English freelance illustrator now living in Draper. Me, my husband and 4 beautiful girls moved to Draper just over 3 years ago from Ireland, my husbands Irish and we lived there for 13 years and miss it’s beautiful green hills.

I graduated with a BA honors in scientific and natural history illustration from Blackpool, England. I then went on to do mostly commission portrait work as I had my girls. Now my girls are older and since moving to Utah I felt a pull to use my talents and love of drawing more in my life, trying to bless others and believe in and push myself to my full ability. I started to paint landscapes about a year ago, probably from missing my homes in Ireland and England and I’ve grown to love to paint again after over 20 years of not using it.

Before I was married I was blessed to work in 6 LDS temples through out America and did the gold leaf and decorative painting inside.

I still do commission portraits with colored pencil and enjoy the softness they bring. My landscapes are acrylic and I love how Versatile it is but still play around with watercolor now and then! I sell my landscapes. I love to show off the green hills and moody/cloudy skies of England and Ireland, bringing its beauty to Utah.

Over the last year I have started to enjoy teaching art classes with acrylic, watercolor and pencil.
